What you’ll be doing...
Responsible for the installation, monitoring, testing and maintenance of telecommunications and associated electronic equipment and wiring per specifications and operational procedures, both in technical facilities as well as on customer property to include preventative maintenance routines. Performs testing and diagnostic procedures on equipment according to published equipment standards. Performs fiber locates, monitoring of construction activity, fiber splicing and termination. Assembles, installs, and/or tests transmission equipment channel banks, channel service units (CSU), digital service units (DSU), modems, routers, etc. Installs routers, bridges, multiplexers, concentrators, etc. Completes periodic maintenance on company transmissions support equipment. Maintains new and existing circuits through troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques; utilizes remote test systems to isolate and resolve customer circuit outages. Coordinates the testing and turn up of service with all involved providers until the customer’s service is up and working.
Supports multiple Verizon sites including Long Distance POPs & REGENs
Maintains Ultra Long Haul & SONET Optical transport systems, DXC & M13 equipment
Performs I&M of multiple circuit Types, including T1 through OC192, Ethernet & Gig-E
Dispatches to Customer Premise locations for I&Mof all standard & Ethernet CPE, and VSAT equipment
Some work is outdoors, must be able to perform in seasonal weather / changing conditions
Maintainnetwork and customers supported out of the Davenport, IA area to include sites and customers in Illinois..
Performs fiber locates and related outside plant work.
Deploys back-up power generators at remote sites
Performs Preventive Maintenance on all network transport & power equipment
Works OT, on-call rotations, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet support and project requirements
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
- One or more years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver's license.
Even better if you have:
- Degree in telecommunications or related field.
- Five or more years of directly related experience with Central Office, Outside Fiber Optic Plant and Customer Premise environment.
- Verbal & written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
